# Welcome

## What is HarmonyCMS?

HarmonyCMS is a free, open-source, self-hosted content management system platform based on **Symfony 4** framework.

{% hint style="info" %}
This documentation assumes you have a working knowledge of the Symfony Framework. If you’re not familiar with Symfony, please start with reading the [Quick Tour](http://symfony.com/doc/current/quick_tour) from the Symfony documentation.
{% endhint %}

## Where do I start?

The best way to get started is to go to the [Harmony Platform documentation](https://docs-platform.harmonycms.net) to know how Harmony works.\
After that, you can go to the [Installation](/docs/getting-started/installation.md) section to install HarmonyCMS on your own server.
